‘Raindance’ is an immersive dancefloor experience that merges the energy of a club dancefloor, the choreography of a dance performance, and the surreal world of a music video. Drawing inspiration from soaking wet club scenes such as the opening rave in "Blade," Christina Aguilera's "Dirrty," and the opening solo in "Flashdance," Raindance reimagines the modern club show with an emphasis on sensuality and exhibitionism, where the audience comes to see and be seen. It is a celebration of queer culture, industrial aesthetics, and pop sensibilities.
The heart of Raindance is an elevated Go-Go dancing platform constructed over a large, shallow pond, serving as a stage, installation and a visual centerpiece. Sprinklers integrated overhead provide a controlled rain effect that adds drama and intensity to the performance, with a shimmering, reflective surface that enhances the dancers' movements. A platform of industrial mesh panels allows the rain to cascade through to the pond below. Integrated lighting is woven into the structure’s water features creating a multi-sensory experience. Lights and water effects are synchronized with the music and choreography, illuminating performers and reflecting off their wet bodies.
The performance features two male dancers who push the boundaries of traditional strip club acts with a queer twist, blending masculine and feminine sexuality. Their choreography is designed to interact with the architectural elements, turning the industrial structures into dynamic stages. The show aims to break the audience-spectator format, creating a contagious energy that spreads through the crowd.
Raindance transforms the Horst Club into a postmodern, post-industrial queer haven where architecture meets exhibitionism/voyeurism, creating a subversive and immersive dance experience.
