Over the next three years, we invite creative collectives to reimagine spaces that blend artistic expression, sustainability, and community connection. This initiative aims to empower young talent, enhance the artistic and spatial identity of Horst Arts & Music, and transform Asiat Park into an inspiring public space where diverse communities feel welcome year-round.
This year, we challenge you to transform the rooftop of an existing building into a publicly accessible space that embodies sustainability, community, and creativity. As part of our mission to create sustainable, community-focused environments in Asiat Park, the winning design will make the rooftop a vibrant hub for locals and visitors during the Horst Arts & Music Festival.
Your design should prioritise circular design, emphasizing sustainability, material reuse, and innovative approaches to reducing waste. It should also focus on community integration, fostering connection, inclusivity, and shared experiences.
The competition will involve a two-phase selection process: designers submit initial conceptual sketches, and the top five candidates will be invited to refine and pitch their ideas. We encourage projects that interpret sustainability broadly—whether through material choices, social impact, or circular construction methods
Your creation will not only enhance the festival experience but also contribute to Asiat Park’s evolution into a vibrant, imaginative public space.

Phase 3: realisation
The winning team will receive €8,500 to bring their vision to life, covering the full production budget (materials, compensation, gear, etc.). In addition, we’ve allocated a €2,700 fee, which, combined with the €300 participation reward for the second round, totals €3,000.
The project will be executed as part of the Horst Atelier, offering designers and builders the chance to immerse themselves in a creative and collaborative environment. Participants will enjoy three freshly prepared meals a day, take part in evening activities, and, if desired, stay overnight in tents.
To support a potential site visit, we’ve set aside a €500 travel budget. All costs related to project documentation and storytelling will be covered by Horst Arts & Music and fritz-kola, ensuring your work receives the attention it deserves.
