Meanwhile

Theo Triantafyllidis (b. 1988, Athens, GR) is an artist who works with digital and physical media to explore the experience of space and the mechanics of embodiment in hybrid realities. Utilizing algorithms and game engines, virtual reality headsets and experimental performance processes, he creates interactions within immersive environments. In Triantafyllidis’ worlds awkward interactions and precarious physics mingle with uncanny, absurd and poetic situations, inviting the viewer to engage with new realities.

Grounded in monster theory, Triantafyllidis delves into themes of isolation, sexuality, and violence at their visceral extremities. His artistic language incorporates computational humor and AI improvisation, serving as a poignant response to the pervasive agenda of the tech industry. Actively contributing to and drawing inspiration from online and gaming communities, he maintains a dynamic presence in these realms. For HORST Theo will present a kaleidoscopic array of videos selected from live simulations, creating multi-layered landscapes with the focus on stories of interspecies communication and human absence.

It offers a unique exploration of the site's spirit and has been carefully curated for this occasion.

Projected onto one of the iconic cooling towers, Theo Triantafyllidis' work serves not only as a visual spectacle but also as a catalyst for reflection on the intersection of art, environment, and human interaction. Through Triantafyllidis' exclusive performative system, tailored specifically for the festival, viewers are transported into a realm where the boundaries between nature and human intervention blur. His work invites contemplation on the delicate balance between human development and ecological succession, echoing the exhibition’s overarching theme.
