Calm Roots is Alex Rita’s platform for highlighting meditative music, jazz spirituality and dub poetry, first taking the form of regular broadcasts to global listeners on NTS, and then developing into a multi-faceted practice synthesising live performance, DJ sets and holistic health. Previous guests have included poet and curator Rohan Ayinde, pedal harp and synth player Nala Sinephro, pianist and composer Lionmilk, and avant-garde trumpeter Wadada Leo Smith. At Horst Festival this year Alex plays solo. And there’s a bonus: she will also be DJing with partner and fellow co-founder of Touching Bass, Errol!
