Dub is at the root of so many of the sonic waves we have surfed over the past 50 years, from the art of the extended disco mix to the sub-rattling frequencies of jungle and hardcore, the reduced lurch of dubstep and, of course, the dub techno fusion of Basic Channel/Rhythm & Sound. When When DJ Sotofett discovered dub it provided his “first really massive sonic expansion", and it was to spread that message further that he founded the platform ‘Resonance of Dub'. Since an inaugural event at Tresor in Berlin the concept has appeared annually at Strange Brew in Bristol (on the famed Qualitex Sound System) and travelled to Tokyo and Osaka, where Sotofett played a set of unreleased music off acetate dubplates he cut in Berlin. At this year’s edition of Horst Festival he presents Resonance of Dub accompanied by Ghanaian singer and percussionist Ekowmania, who featured on the first Resonance of Dub 7” ‘Fanti Shake (Steppers Mix)/Step Eight’ released in late 2025.
