A sign of the times, ghastly and hallucinatory: Paris-based multidisciplinary artist Helen Island creates alternative pop music that echoes the saccharine gaze of the digital world. With a characteristic bedroom style of production, Helen Island’s music features filtered high notes, ripped samples, cut-up genres and processed vocals. Debut album ‘last liasse’ was released by Dutch imprint Knekelhuis in 2024, while many others have been self-released on cassettes and digital through the artist’s own imprint Trigger Moral, including 2025’s LP ‘silence is priceless’ and its companion EP ‘silence extended’. Alongside music, Helen Island also explores painting, poetry and other forms of conceptual art. We know to expect the unexpected for Helen's performance at this year's Horst Festival.
