Starting in 2020, the Brussels-based DJ and producer Leese has been putting out a steady stream of deft, organic releases centred on bass music and drawing on a wide range of traditional percussive styles. After working completely solo on the EPs ‘Nomäa’ and ‘Däarm’, out on the Prague imprint YUKU in 2022, Leese embarked on a mission to join forces with other artists. First there was the EP ‘Drift’ featuring RAVL, Le Motel and Capiuz, then last year’s ‘Δ’, an LP of nine different collaborations appearing once again on YUKU. She has also released on Portuguese label Discos Extendes, who hit her up after witnessing an electric liveset in Brussels. As a DJ, Leese’s sets are heavily influenced by bass and drum & bass, with dark and hypnotic undertones that create an immersive and powerful atmosphere on the dancefloor.
