Mika Oki is a French-Japanese visual artist, DJ and producer, born in Paris and living in Brussels. With a background in sculpture and electroacoustic music, she explores the concept of immaterial spaces and emotional landscapes through video and sound installations, using abstract sound structures and kinetic mental images.
She also started DJing in clubs and radio shows where she translated her atmospheric experiments and blurred the lines between techno, dub and ambient/narrative sounds. Last year she played at European audiovisual festivals such as TodaysArt, SONICA, CYNETART and in Uganda for the last Nyege Nyege festival. She also showed her work "Reverse Osmosis" at Berlin Atonal 2018. Her involvement in the electronic and experimental music scene and her desire to put the Belgian artistic community in the spotlight made her become station manager at The Word Radio in Brussels.
In addition to her solo work, she has collaborated with artists such as SKY H1, with whom she has performed audiovisual live shows. She is also actively involved as the founder of LYL Radio Brussels, a platform that promotes a variety of musical and artistic content.
