We are excited to welcome the Godmother of House Music, DJ Stacey “Hotwaxx” Hale, to Horst Festival. Stacey has been Detroit’s first lady of house music ever since she started playing on the radio in the late 80s. Tastefully blending house and techno with funk, hip hop and Motown soul, she has played at famous theatres like the Apollo in New York and the Fox in Detroit, and legendary clubs including Studio 54 in New York and The Warehouse in Chicago. Holding down residencies at Spotlite and Marble Bar in Detroit, she can also be found DJing around the world, as well as hosting three regular radio shows. Stacey is a fierce producer, having collaborated with the likes of Kevin Saunderson, Norma Jean Bell and the late K Hand. She is also a DJ instructor and co-director for Girls Rock Detroit, mentoring young girls and non-binary youth finding their way in music.
