London-based DJ and broadcaster Tia Cousins has made a name for herself digging through the cracks that others overlook. In an era of information overload, she’s found a niche collecting in-between sounds, experimental gear, obscurities old and new, and has developed a skill for stitching them together too. EBM, italo, techno, synth pop, post punk, krautrock, house: it’s all clay to be moulded by Tia’s capable hands. From club shows to radio slots on NTS and Balamii to performances at Tate Gallery and Brilliant Corners, all have won her widespread recognition. She also finds expression for her tastes through her work as A&R for Ransom Note Records and co-running Music To Watch Seeds Grow By, a cassette label that pairs ambient music with the slow, mindful art of horticulture.
