Esben Weile Kjær, born 1992, graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2022. In his performances, installations and sculptures, he examines identity among his own generation and explores the role of popular culture and technology in determining our experience of community and freedom. Esben Weile Kjær has had several solo shows, including at Kunstforeningen GL STRAND and at Copenhagen Contemporary, and has shown his works internationally at Museum Tinguely in Basel, Centre Pompidou in Paris, Mumok in Vienna and Berghain in Berlin.
In 2023 Esben Weile Kjær had an exhibition with the title BUTTERFLY! At Arken – Museum of Modern Art in Denmark where he went in dialogue with the museum's permanent collection. In 2022, he received the Carl Nielsen and Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen Foundation’s talent award and in 2023 the Aage & Ylva Nimbs Foundation Grant of honor. Esben Weile Kjærs biggest solo exhibition Solar System is on view now at Kunsten - Museum of Modern Art.

Esben Weile Kjær, geboren in 1992, studeerde in 2022 af aan de Koninklijke Deense Academie voor Schone Kunsten. In zijn performances, installaties en sculpturen onderzoekt hij de identiteit van zijn eigen generatie en onderzoekt hij de rol van populaire cultuur en technologie bij het bepalen van onze ervaring van gemeenschap en vrijheid. Esben Weile Kjær heeft verschillende solotentoonstellingen gehad, waaronder bij Kunstforeningen GL STRAND en bij Copenhagen Contemporary, en heeft zijn werk internationaal getoond in Museum Tinguely in Basel, Centre Pompidou in Parijs, Mumok in Wenen en Berghain in Berlijn.
